Creative Pattern Cutting

COURSE OVERVIEW

On this course you will learn different methods of pattern cutting; ‘Subtraction Pattern Cutting’ (Julian Roberts), ‘Transformational Reconstruction Pattern Cutting’ (Shingo Sato) and draping on a stand (basic). These methods are more intuitive, more 3D based and use less maths than traditional flat pattern cutting. You will also learn different methods of producing creative patterns by engineering seams and darts. You will be expected to draft a basic bodice block and this block will be used throughout the course. You will not be making made to measure garments. This course is about developing creativity in your pattern cutting, although there will be input on basic garment construction. Lessons will be a combination of tutor led classes and student self-directed-study.
